Last Bethel Baptist School Pupil Abducted in Kaduna Since 2021 Released by Kidnappers


The Nigeria Baptist Convention has officially announced the release of Treasure Ayuba, the final victim of the Bethel Baptist High School kidnapping in Kaduna State, which occurred on July 5, 2021.

In a statement issued by Rev Dr. Israel Akanji, the President of the NBC, it was confirmed that Ayuba was freed on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Rev Dr. Akanji expressed immense gratitude, stating, "Glory be to God! Glory be to God!! Glory be to God!!! Treasure Ayuba, the last boy who was still in captivity with the bandits who abducted the 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna on July 5, 2021, has safely returned home today, on November 2, 2023."

Treasure was received with open arms and is currently in the company of the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, Rev JJ Hayab, as well as the Conference President of Kaduna Baptist Conference. Rev Dr. Akanji extended his heartfelt appreciation, saying, "Thanks be to our unwavering God. Thank you very much for your prayers and the countless support you have provided."

On the fateful day of July 5, 2021, armed assailants had attacked the Bethel Baptist High School, owned by the church in Damishi, Kaduna, and kidnapped 121 students.
