Two tragic fatalities were confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service on the night of October 8th. The unfortunate incident unfolded when two individuals became trapped and subsequently succumbed to suffocation while undertaking maintenance work on a diesel reservoir.

The Public Relations Officer of the state fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, released a statement on October 29th, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. This dire event transpired along Katsina Road, near the Baban Gwari roundabout, situated within the Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.

The two individuals tragically involved in this incident were identified as Philip Osando, aged 40, and Philip Emmanuel, aged 35.

According to Abdullahi, the Kano State Fire Service received an urgent call for assistance from Police Inspector Abubakar Surajo at approximately 8:20 p.m. on the ill-fated Saturday evening. Responding promptly, the fire service dispatched its rescue team to the scene, arriving at around 8:27 p.m.

The victims, in this heart-wrenching turn of events, had entered the diesel reservoir with the intention of clearing it in preparation for the reception of diesel, as per their workplace instructions. Tragically, they were unable to exit the reservoir.
