In a commendable display of collaboration, police officers from the Enugu State Command stationed at the Igbo-Eze North Police Division, in conjunction with the Neighborhood Watch Group, successfully dismantled a child-stealing syndicate.
DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the official spokesperson for the Enugu State Command, issued a statement detailing the circumstances of the arrest. According to Ndukwe, the suspect was captured red-handed while attempting to infiltrate the residence of a concerned party with the intention of abducting a one-year and three-month-old girl child.
Ndukwe went on to reveal the shocking confession made by the apprehended suspect. Ifeanyi Omeke admitted to his involvement in this heinous act, divulging that he had been coerced into this criminal activity by his as-yet-at-large associates. These individuals purportedly hired him to abduct children for nefarious purposes, including ritualistic practices and other unlawful endeavors.
In response to this unsettling incident, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has taken swift action. He has ordered the immediate transfer of this case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a comprehensive investigation. This comprehensive inquiry aims to identify and detain the remaining members of this criminal syndicate, ultimately leading to their prosecution.
