"Foundation to Aid Those Struggling with Addiction Established by Matthew Perry's Close Friends Following His Tragic Passing"

Close friends of the late actor Matthew Perry have established a foundation in his honor, dedicated to aiding individuals battling addiction.

Matthew Perry, a renowned American-Canadian actor, who rose to fame through his iconic role as Chandler Bing in the hit TV series 'Friends,' tragically passed away at his Los Angeles residence last week, reportedly due to drowning.

Perry, who left us at the age of 54, had been remarkably candid about his enduring struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, revealing that the cost of his rehabilitation had amassed to a staggering $9 million.

The foundation prominently displayed a quote from Perry on its website, underscoring his desire to be remembered for his efforts in supporting those grappling with addiction. The quote reads, "When I die, I don't want 'Friends' to be the first thing that's mentioned – I want helping others to be the first thing that's mentioned. And I'm going to live the rest of my life proving that. Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down."

Although investigations into Perry's untimely demise are ongoing, authorities have indicated that there are no indications of foul play involved. It is believed that Perry drowned, but an official cause of death has not yet been declared.

First responders who arrived at the scene reported that when Perry was discovered by his assistant, he was submerged underwater, and she desperately attempted to raise his head to provide him with much-needed air. Tragically, by the time the Los Angeles Fire Department reached his Pacific Palisades residence, the actor had already passed away.

Earlier this week, a 15-second emergency call recording was released, capturing the moment when Perry's assistant dialed 911 to report a possible cardiac arrest.

Matthew Perry had been candid about his past struggles with alcohol and substance abuse, but he had claimed in recent interviews that he was living a clean and sober life. In his memoir, he recounted spending $9 million in his quest for sobriety, attending 6,000 AA meetings, undergoing rehabilitation 15 times, and enduring detoxification on 65 occasions. He stated that he had overcome addiction in 2021 and was believed to be leading a healthier lifestyle.
