A middle school teacher in Arkansas, Kaytlann Barnes, is facing allegations of soliciting explicit photos from her 14-year-old male student using Snapchat.
Barnes, 30, employed at Booneville Junior High School, was apprehended at her residence in Fort Smith last week and charged with child sex felonies.
The accusations suggest that Barnes sent sexually explicit photos to the student via the Snapchat app and instructed him to reciprocate. Court records obtained by KATV reveal that Barnes sent multiple photos and a video deliberately exposing her intimate areas.
Subsequently, she allegedly requested a video from the student to "arouse or gratify her sexual desires."
These exchanges occurred over two nights while both parties were at their respective homes, as indicated in the court documents.
Barnes faces charges including sexual indecency with a child, producing, directing, or promoting a sexual performance by a child, unlawful use of a communication device, and computer child pornography.
The teacher has been terminated from her position at the school and is no longer affiliated with the Boonville Public Schools district, as confirmed by the police.
Following her arrest, Barnes was released from the Logan County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond on Monday.
In a statement, Logan County Sheriff Jason W. Massey expressed gratitude to the Arkansas State Police, Booneville Public Schools, and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office for their collaboration in the investigation
