Woman Faces Charges in Kaduna for Alleged Theft of N200,000 from Boyfriend

A 27-year-old woman named Felicia John found herself facing legal proceedings in a Kaduna State magistrates' court on allegations of embezzling N200,000 that belonged to her boyfriend, as reported by the Nigerian News Agency (NAN).
The prosecuting attorney, Inspector Chidi Leo, presented the case, stating that a certain Michael Elisha from Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, had filed the complaint against the defendant. Elisha, who happened to be Felicia John's boyfriend, claimed that she had absconded with N200,000 of his money.

According to Leo, Elisha recounted that the defendant had taken advantage of his momentary absence, during which he was taking a bath, to slyly transfer the said sum from his bank account to hers using his mobile phone.

Subsequently, after a month had passed since her sudden disappearance, the defendant was apprehended and brought to court to face the charges.

In response to the accusations, Felicia John pleaded not guilty.

In his ruling, Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendant bail, setting the amount at N100,000, with the requirement of providing one surety who would be held liable for the same sum. The case was adjourned to December 6, 2023, for further proceedings.
