Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for Berlin, Germany, on Saturday, November 18, to participate in the G-20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Conference scheduled for November 20, 2023. The conference, hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, will bring together leaders from CwA member countries, bilateral partners, and Heads of International Organizations to discuss ways to enhance economic and business cooperation.
Accompanying the president on this important diplomatic mission are key members of his cabinet, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb.
Yusuf Tuggar; the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite; and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
This delegation reflects Nigeria's commitment to engaging in substantive discussions on critical areas such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and new technologies to boost investments.
The announcement of the president's participation in the G20 CwA Conference and the co-hosted Fourth G20 Investment Summit was made by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday, November 17. Ngelale emphasized President Tinubu's global drive for foreign direct investment in Nigeria, stating that the visit to Germany aligns with the principle of diplomatic reciprocity, following the German Chancellor's recent visit to Abuja and Lagos from October 29 to October 30, 2023.
The Nigerian delegation aims to build on the productive meetings held with high-ranking representatives from German business organizations during the German Chancellor's visit to Nigeria.
This visit provides an opportunity for Nigeria to leverage the Fourth G20 Investment Summit and further advance discussions on economic cooperation.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the conference. This diplomatic engagement follows his recent trips to Guinea-Bissau for their Independence anniversary and Saudi Arabia, where he spent at least six days.
