Keffe D, the man allegedly involved in the murder of American rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996, is due to appear in court on June 3. Duane Keith 'Keffe D' Davis, aged 60, formerly led a Southern California street gang and was apprehended in September for his alleged role in orchestrating the notorious Las Vegas drive-by shooting that claimed Tupac Shakur's life nearly three decades ago.
Out of the individuals inside the vehicle responsible for firing the fatal shot at Shakur, Keffe D is the sole survivor and the sole person facing criminal charges connected to the murder. Keith Davis is now slated to stand trial on June 3, 2024.
Describing himself as a 'gang member,' Davis entered a not-guilty plea in a Las Vegas courtroom on November 2 after experiencing delays and uncertainty regarding his legal representation.
Prosecutors have indicated that they do not intend to pursue the death penalty for Davis in connection to the alleged crime.
Before entering his plea, Davis, dressed in dark-blue jail attire, responded to a brief series of questions, affirming that he had completed 'a year in college,' was not under the influence of drugs, medication, or alcohol, and comprehended the murder charges against him.
Born in Compton, California, Davis was arrested on September 29 outside a residence in suburban Henderson, where Las Vegas police executed a search warrant on July 17. This arrest reignited interest in one of hip-hop music's most enduring mysteries.
Davis is currently incarcerated without bail and chose not to testify before the grand jury that indicted him. Furthermore, he declined to speak with The Associated Press from his jail cell.
The indictment asserts that Davis procured and supplied a firearm to an individual in the back seat of a Cadillac just before the car-to-car gunfire that fatally wounded Tupac Shakur and injured rap music mogul Marion 'Suge' Knight at an intersection near the Las Vegas Strip.
Marion 'Suge' Knight, now 58 years old, is serving a 28-year prison sentence in California for the 2015 killing of a Compton businessman. He has not responded to inquiries through his attorneys regarding Keith Davis' arrest.
