Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has vehemently rejected the recent Court of Appeal judgment that ousted him from office on November 17. The Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the decision of the state election petition tribunal, nullifying Yusuf's election under the banner of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
In response to the verdict, Governor Yusuf, along with his party, the NNPP, has firmly rejected the judgment and is determined to appeal the case to the Supreme Court in an effort to retain his position.
Governor Yusuf made this announcement via a post on his official page, stating, "After a thorough examination and extensive engagement with stakeholders, my team and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have decided to approach the Supreme Court regarding the miscarriage of justice delivered by the Appeal Court in Abuja.
We maintain optimism that the Supreme Court, with the grace of Allahu SWT, will overturn the perceived injustices by both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court and reaffirm the mandate bestowed upon us by the people of Kano State.
Furthermore, I urge the citizens of Kano State to carry on with their lawful activities, as we have taken all necessary measures to ensure the security of their lives and property, which is a fundamental responsibility.
Lastly, I call upon the people of the state and other compassionate Nigerians to continue praying for Allah's mercy and protection to safeguard the state from the injustice orchestrated by individuals attempting to seize power through unconventional means and plunge the state into a regressive era."
