Maryanne Trump Barry, the older sister of former President Donald J. Trump and a former federal judge, passed away at the age of 86.
Her death occurred on the morning of November 13 at her residence in New York City, as reported by the New York Times. The cause of her death remains unknown.
Born to Fred and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, Barry served as an assistant U.S. attorney in 1974 before Ronald Reagan appointed her to the U.S. District Court for New Jersey in 1983. She concluded her judicial career by retiring in 2019.
Barry was previously married to John Barry, a trial and appellate lawyer, who predeceased her.
Despite being siblings, Maryanne Trump Barry and her younger brother, the 77-year-old former president, often found themselves in disagreement. Audio recordings released by Mary L. Trump, the niece of both Barry and Donald Trump, unveiled Barry's critical views on her brother's political approach. In the recordings, she even referred to him as a "clown" during the 2016 election.
Donald Trump, currently a 77-year-old front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, has faced several personal losses in recent years. His younger brother, Robert S. Trump, passed away in 2020, with the president hosting a funeral service for him at the White House. Additionally, his first wife, Ivana Trump, passed away in 2022.
