Court of Appeal Reconfirms Orji Uzor Kalu's Victory in Abia North Senatorial District

 

On Monday, November 6, the Court of Appeal in Abuja reaffirmed the victory of Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Governor of Abia state, in the Abia North Senatorial District election.

Justice Abiri, who presided over the case, delivered the judgment in response to appeals filed by Nnamdi Iro Orji, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Senator Mao Ohabunwa, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The court ruled that their appeals lacked merit.

The court's decision was based on the determination that Senator Kalu had indeed adhered to the provisions of the Electoral Act. 

Additionally, the court rejected the arguments presented by both petitioners, who claimed that the election had not been conducted in over 120 polling units, primarily in the Ohafia and Arochukwu local government areas within the senatorial zone.
