On Thursday, November 9, Suleiman Ahmed took his neighbor, Abdulrahman Musa, to a customary court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, alleging that Musa insulted and slapped him.
Musa faced charges of insult, assault, criminal intimidation, and defamation of character under Sections 378, 329, 376, and 371 of the Kaduna State Penal Code.
The complainant, a resident of Ibadan Street in Kafanchan, claimed that in October, Musa insulted and slapped him. Additionally, he accused Musa of labeling him and his household members as thieves and even throwing feces into his house.
When the charges were presented to Musa, he pleaded not guilty
The defendant's counsel, Mr. Yakunat Baba, urged the court to grant bail to his client in accordance with Section 36 (5) of the 1999 constitution.
In response, Judge George Gwani granted bail to the defendant, setting it at N20,000 with a surety in a similar amount. The case was adjourned to December 11.
