Al-Hilal Plans to Remove Neymar from Squad for the Remainder of the Season Due to Injury

Reports suggest that Saudi club Al-Hilal is making preparations to de-register Neymar from their squad for the remainder of the season.

The Brazilian football star made a high-profile £78 million move to the Saudi side in August from PSG, inking a lucrative two-year deal valued at £130 million per season.

Unfortunately, Neymar encountered a setback last month when he sustained a severe knee injury while representing Brazil in their 2-0 loss to Uruguay in World Cup qualifying.

Medical examinations confirmed that Neymar had suffered a rupture in his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee, sidelining him for the remainder of the season and putting his participation in the upcoming Copa America in the United States in doubt.

According to reports from Saudi Arabian outlet Arriyadiyah, Al-Hilal is considering a temporary suspension of Neymar's registration due to his injury. Regulations in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) stipulate that each team can only register eight non-Saudi players in their squad.

Al-Hilal's manager, Jorge Jesus, is reportedly eager to strengthen his team in the January transfer window, particularly in the left-back position. After discussions between Jesus and the club's leadership, it has been decided that Neymar will be excluded from the squad until he recovers from his injury. This decision is influenced by the fact that Al-Hilal has already reached the maximum quota of eight foreign players in their current squad, which includes Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and the Brazilian duo of Malcolm and Michael, in addition to Neymar.
